Bahrain targets Indian tourist market

The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) concluded its first participation in the 26th edition of South Asia’s leading travel show, SATTE 2020, which took place at India Expo Mart, in New Delhi, between January 8 and 10.

The BTEA’s participation was an immense success. The delegation of Bahrain held a series of productive meetings in which they promoted the kingdom as a leading tourism destination; whether for individuals, wedding celebrations or meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (Mice).

“We are pleased with the success of our first participation in SATTE 2020, wherein over a period of three days we managed to hold a number of meetings with several organisations and authorities associated with the tourism sector in India; which were held with an aim to attract more tourist delegations and increase the number of visitors coming into to Bahrain. As we strive to promote Bahrain and enhance its position on the global tourism map, we look forward to participating in various regional and international events in the future,” commented acting director of marketing and tourism promotion directorate at BTEA, Dr. Ali Follad.

The BTEA delegation met with a number of prominent travel agents and companies specialised in organizing conferences in India, which included Sports Konnect, Aaryan Leisure and Holidays, Easemytrip.com, Carewell Travels, JTB and Pegasus Investment. Key meetings were also held with a number of media representatives, which were attending the event. In addition, one lucky winner won two tickets to the Bahrain Grand Prix Formula 1 race, two airline tickets from Gulf Air and a stay at a five-star hotel, after participating in the ‘Fastest Lap’ competition, which was organised by the Bahrain Pavilion.

The delegation of Bahrain, which was headed by Dr Follad, consisted of a number of representatives from BTEA and Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain, in addition to leading luxury hotels, including The Ritz-Carlton, Al Areen Palace and Spa, Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea and Spa, and a number of travel agents such as Best of Bahrain, Mathias Tours, and Farhat International Tours and Travels.

Each year, with an aim of promoting their tourism offerings and establishing commercial and business partnerships, this annual event witnesses the participation of more than 1,000 participants from over 50 countries, 28 Indian states, and 90 cities from across India. The event brings together decision makers, the largest global travel and tourism companies and their peers in the South Asia region, as well as representatives of government agencies and the Indian tourism market; all under one roof.

BTEA’s participation comes in line with its long-term strategy to further develop the Kingdom’s tourism sector and strengthen its position on regional and international levels under the slogan of ‘Ours. Yours’, which contributes towards the Kingdom’s economy and the 2030 Economic Vision. - TradeArabia News Service
