Sharjah Tourism organises fun activities at the Expo Centre

The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) has announced the start of a month of exciting activities at the Expo Centre Sharjah, alongside the Sharjah Summer Festival 2019 celebrations.

The ongoing activities at the centre began on July 17 and will run until August 17, forming part of the SCTDA’s efforts to develop the emirate’s tourism and other key sectors.

The centre’s ‘Sharjah Fun Fair’ has been divided into different areas, where children can join in a range of games and events being held at the Cartoon Network Football Zone, which features a free play football pitch, a Cartoon Network-themed football shoot-out, and a fully functioning Cartoon Network arts and crafts area. In this zone, they can have fun kicking the ball around, trying out more advanced skills in the shoot-out, or showcasing their creative side – all in one fully equipped area. The Sharjah Fun Fair also has a special PlayStation Gaming Zone as well as a Transformers Gaming Zone, where children can have a chance to be part of the world of transformers, battle the enemies, and save the world. The two zones are designed to take gaming to the next level.

Other activities include a zipline; a My Little Pony show, which is currently ongoing and will run until July 28; the Hotel Transylvania show, which will run from August 6 to 17 and features a birthday party at Dracula’s Castle; kids cinema that features Arabic and English Cartoon Network programs, including We Bare Bears, Ben 10, Adventure Time, Gumball, and Powerpuff Girls; and a ball pit pool. In addition, the Sharjah Fun Fair houses a Food Zone with bright themed food stalls.

Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, chairman, SCTDA, said: “Through our collaboration with the Expo Centre Sharjah, we aim to achieve the fundamental objectives of Sharjah Tourism Vision to attract 10 million tourists by 2021. With the unwavering support of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, we continue to work with our partners from the public and private sectors to develop diverse products and services that will help boost the tourism sector, which is one of the important pillars of the emirate’s economic development.”

Al Midfa added: “The Sharjah Summer Festival is a popular tourist attraction and an opportunity to showcase the emirate's unique tourist offerings. During the festival, we host a range of activities to enrich the experience of our visitors, whether young or old, and transform Sharjah into a favourite local and global tourist destination. A growing number of tourists continue to arrive to the emirate to take part in our diverse family-oriented summer activities, many of which have also been organised in partnership with local and global institutions and establishments. Modern hotels and shopping facilities here in Sharjah are some of our partner establishments. They have revealed their respective promos and discounts as part of their participation in the festival. The participating malls are also holding regular raffle draws that offer big prizes such as new cars.”

The regular ticket price is Dh45 ($12.2). Guests can buy tickets for Dh30 ($8.1) each when bought on Platinum List. Special rates will be offered at the venue for all Wafer and Fazaa card holders. - TradeArabia News Service
