Saudi Arabia sacks aviation authority president

In a major move, Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has dismissed the president of General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), the kingdom's national aviation body, said a report.

According to the state-run Saudi Press Agency, King Salman issued a royal order relieving Abdulhakim bin Mohammed bin Suleiman Al Tamimi from the GACA chief's post.

"Pertinent authorities" had been instructed to implement the royal order, the report said.

Reasons for Al-Tamimi's removal were not stated.

Al-Tamimi was appointed to his position to GACA in June 2017, it added.
