Alila Jabal Akhdar welcomes new executive chef

Alila Jabal Akhdar, a top resort in Oman, has appointed Danny Wilkinson as executive chef, who brings 12 years of experience and the best of his culinary ingenuity to the dining experience at the resort.

British-born, Wilkinson built the early years of his culinary career in gastropubs and casual restaurants, before moving on to five-star hotels and Michelin-starred establishments, trained by some of the world’s top chefs.

From 2011 to 2013, he worked at the 5-star luxury Coworth Park Hotel in Ascot, UK, part of the Dorchester Collection, where he had the opportunity to cook regularly for Queen Elizabeth as well as numerous celebrities and movie stars. He then joined the three-Michelin-starred Waterside Inn where, working alongside chef-patron Alain Roux, he learnt how simple food can taste amazing with meticulous care and attention to every detail from land to plate.

In 2014, Wilkinson’s culinary journey brought him to the Middle East where he furthered his experience as Sous Chef at Pacha Ibiza Dubai’s French fine dining restaurant, Frioul, as Head Chef at The Sportsman’s Arms in Abu Dhabi, and most recently as Private VVIP Chef at the exclusive Al Gurm Villas.

Drawing on his experience in both fine and casual dining, and a world of different cuisines, including British, European, American and Middle Eastern, Chef Danny believes in using the best of his knowledge to create great food that is not only moreishly tasty but presented invitingly too.

As the executive chef at Alila Jabal Akhdar, Chef Danny will oversee its ongoing commitment to sustainability. All food waste produced by the hotel is composted and provides vegetable waste oil back to the hotel’s organic farm. In addition, the restaurant has built its menu entirely around sustainable practices, farm-to-table meals, as well as waste and plastic reduction. – TradeArabia News Service
