Millennium Hotels backs launches new charity initiative

Following a partnership announcement with Al Jalila Foundation in October 2017, Millennium Hotels and Resorts has announced the launch of Taddamon, allowing guests staying at participating hotels across the UAE the option to donate Dh5 ($1.36) to the non-profit organisation.

Taken from the Arabic word meaning ‘solidarity’ or ‘unity’, the UAE-based fundraising initiative aims to help raise much-needed funds for mental health research.

To launch the Taddamon initiative, notable members of both organisations came together on March 15 at Millennium Plaza Dubai. Sulaiman Baharoun, Al Jalila Foundation’s director of Partnerships and Sustainability, was joined by Kevork Deldelian, chief operating officer, Millennium Hotels and Resorts - Middle East and Africa; Anis Fares, director of Human Resources; Karim El Horr, director of Hotel Performance and Operations Support; and management representatives from participating Millennium Hotels and Resorts across the UAE at a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Dedicated to advancing healthcare research and education, Al Jalila Foundation was founded by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The “Taddamon” programme will take place across nine Millennium Hotels and Resorts in the UAE including Grand Millennium Dubai, M Hotel Downtown by Millennium, Dubai, Millennium Plaza Dubai, Millennium Airport Dubai, Copthorne Hotel Dubai, Bab Al Qasr Hotel Abu Dhabi, Grand Millennium Al Wahda, Kingsgate Hotel Abu Dhabi, and Copthorne Hotel Sharjah.

“Al Jalila Foundation’s work saves countless lives here in the UAE through medical research, education and treatment, and we’re thrilled to be able to support it across our properties within the UAE. We hope we can not only help with funding for mental health research, but help raise awareness of the issue of mental health across the UAE.” said Deldelian. - TradeArabia News Service
