Toyota Land Cruiser creates history selling over 10m units

The Toyota Land Cruiser is the longest-continuously running nameplate in Toyota’s history and has sold more than 10 million units around the world.

Beginning its journey in 1951, The Toyota Jeep BJ as it was initially known, was born out of the necessity to tackle different terrains across the globe.

The vehicle was tested by tackling technological feats that had only previously been possible on horseback, replicating a samurai warrior’s legendary climb to the Shinto temple at the top of Mount Atago, and driving up the old pilgrim route to the sixth station on Mount Fuji.

Ebrahim K. Kanoo, the sole distributor of Toyota vehicles in Bahrain, first launched the Land Cruiser here in 1967 when it had already gained a strong reputation for its high performance and road durability. Since then, it has earned legendary status within the four-wheel drive sector, consistently setting the benchmark for durability, ruggedness, reliability and flexibility. It is the world’s most customer-trusted vehicle and marked the foundation of Toyota’s development target of quality, durability and reliability.

As Toyota Motor Corporation evolved its line-up of vehicles over the years, the Land Cruiser has always held a soft spot in the Middle East due to its excellent handling of off-road environments, luggage and passenger capacity making it the ideal vehicle for long road trips with family and friends.

As its popularity increased, so did its features, introducing more luxurious materials and technologies to the home staple, making owners feel unstoppable while remaining regal in the highly respected local status symbol.
