Unido is affiliated partner for Meet ICT & Bitex 10th Edition

The United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (Unido) will be an affiliated partner for the 10th Information and Communication Technology Conference (Meet ICT) and Bahrain International Technology Exhibition (Bitex).
 
For this Unido’s Investment and Technology Promotion Offices (Bahrain) and The Bahrain Technology Companies Society (BTECH) have announced signing of an MoU. 
 
Meet ICT and Bitex will be held from June 14 to 16 under the Patronage of Minister of Transportation and Telecommunication, Eng Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed.
 
Global interest
"The partnership with Unido represents the global interest in Bahrain’s ICT industry which is rapidly evolving with new technologies and breakthroughs in information systems networks and applications,” said the Chairman of BTECH, Tareq Fakhroo.
 
Fakhroo added: "By organising this conference, we are working to keep up with developments in the communications technology sector; how to best apply it in Bahrain, and how beneficial it is for the national economy and development in general."
 
Fakhroo affirmed that in Bahrain, the ICT industry is one of the five primary sectors targeted for support and growth by the Economic Development Board, and a national strategy for the transition to a digital economy is being formulated, reinforcing the necessity of moving forward in supporting and expanding this sector.
 
Digitalisation
Furthermore, Meet ICT and Bitex provides a global platform for entrepreneurs, private and public sectors to benefit from digitalisation and know-how provided through workshops.
 
Ahmed Al Hujairy, CEO of WorkSmart for Events Management, said: “BTECH and WorkSmart will organise the event to contribute to the development of the ICT sector in Bahrain and provide an opportunity for the exchange of the latest regional and global experiences.”
 
Al Hujairy indicated that Meet ICT and Bitex are considered the largest of their kind in the field of ICT in Bahrain, and are launched under the slogan ‘Leading the way towards the digital economy through artificial intelligence’.
 
1,000 IT experts
The conference will be attended in person by more than 1,000 IT experts, workers and those interested in various fields of ICT from Bahrain, the region and the world. 
 
This year's Meet ICT conference will include six comprehensive sessions with 25 influential speakers from inside and outside Bahrain discussing topics such as Digital Transformation, FinTech, cybersecurity, blockchain, smart cities, and others. This is in addition to 50 exhibitors from Bahraini, regional, and international companies working in the field of ICT. -- TradeArabia News Service
