Nominations open for TMS Awards 2020

Nominations for The Maritime Standard  (TMS) Awards 2020, to take place on Tuesday, October 20 at The Atlantis, The Palm, Dubai, are now open.

Now in its seventh year, the TMS Awards are well established as the market leader in terms of the number of companies that nominate, the quality of nominations received and the strength of partner companies and organisations which support the Awards.

Details of the event, and the categories that are available to nominate for, can be found on the website: https://www.tmsawards.com/.

There may be many awards in the shipping industry, but TMS has set the standard as the host of the best quality, and most widely respected awards for the entire maritime sector, spanning multiple regions.

TMS Managing Director, Trevor Pereira, says: “We are opening nominations now to give companies plenty of time to prepare their entries in these challenging times. Despite the pandemic, maritime businesses have not stopped, helping keep essential supplies moving and key supply chains operating more or less as normal. The contribution of the industry has been highly commendable and represent an ideal occasion to make sure that companies that have excelled, and gone the extra mile, get their rightful recognition and appreciation.”

The deadline for nominations this year will be September 1 and there will be no scope for any extension beyond this. The shortlist of finalists will be announced on September 17.

An elite panel of judges has been assembled to review entries and select the winners. They are Capt. Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO, Abu Dhabi Ports; Capt. Abdulkareem Al Masabi, CEO, Adnoc Logistics & Services; Abdulla Bin Damithan, Chief Commercial Officer, DP World, UAE Region; Ali Shehab, CEO, Kuwait Oil Tanker Company; Salem Al Zaabi, Former Director General, Federal Transport Authority - Land & Maritime; Rajiv Agarwal, CEO & Managing Director, Essar Ports; H.K. Joshi, Chairperson & Managing Director, The Shipping Corporation of India; Sue Terpilowski, President, WISTA UK; Capt. S.R. Patnaik, Director & CEO, International Shipping and Logistics.

Clive Woodbridge, Chairman of the Judging Panel, says: “We are looking forward to another record level of entries, sustaining the steady increase we have seen in recent years. This year the Awards take place against the backdrop of the pandemic which, while it has been a huge challenge, has also provided the chance for companies to shine and new technologies to be adopted. I am really looking forward to reading the entries and the stories of innovation and determination they will tell.”

During the pandemic, TMS has been flying the flag for the industry, providing ways of bringing stakeholders together to discuss key themes and issues. Its Covid-19 Webinar Series has been hugely popular, creating a forum through which industry experts can share their thoughts, and this will be maintained for the foreseeable future. -- Tradearabia News Service
