Jail, fine for expats chasing personal gains in Saudi

Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Passports said that the self-employed expatriates who engage in jobs for their own personal benefit are subject to penalties that include a fines amounting to SR50,000 ($13,315), and a maximum jail term of six months.

The self-employed expatriate will be deported after serving the jail term and payment of fines, reported Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The directorate called for reporting violators of the residency and border security regulations by calling 911 in the regions of Makkah and Riyadh, and 999 in all regions of the Kingdom.
