AUB ensures seamless continuation of study

The American University of Bahrain (AUBH) has ensured continuation of programmes via the implementation of the latest in learning technology, utilising globally-recognised online classrooms from Microsoft O365 Teams and Amazon Web Services Workspaces, in addition to the Moodle Learning Management system.

The technology was implemented as soon as the campus shifted to online learning, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, with AUBH’s Students and Staff safety in mind.

The implementation of the technology also presented AUBH Students with the opportunity to learn from anywhere, anytime. Content and assignments can be accessed online, students and teachers interact using online tools, and collaborate with each other for group work or assignments.

Sameera Alatawi, Director of Information Technology, AUBH, commented: “The objective of the AUBH IT Department since our opening in September, is to extend the learning environment to be accessed anywhere and anytime, and to empower students and faculty equally to achieve more. We had the tools in place in September, so we were ready to take our learning fully online immediately and seamlessly.”

AUBH’s interational faculty has received in-depth training from the IT Directorate on how to get the best out of the technology, which can deliver online lectures and stream live events to up to 10,000 participants. The technology uses innovation such as digital whiteboards, session recording and real-time feedback, to ensure the learning experience is as immersive as possible when delivered off-site.

AUBH offers programmes in Colleges of Business and Management, Engineering, and Architecture and Design. AUBH’s purpose-built campus in Riffa is a second home to a new caliber of students, nurtured and mentored by hand-picked faculty with the best international and local expertise.

As the first American-style University in Bahrain, AUBH takes a unique approach to learning, going beyond imparting knowledge to giving students access to real world scenarios and practical case-based learning.

Complete with the latest in learning technology, library, labs, and a sports center, the campus is alive with the buzz of academic and extra-curricular life, amongst a multi-cultural student body. -- Tradearabia News Service
