UAE TRA opens registration for innovation camp

UAE’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has announced the opening of registration in TRA Innovation Camp in its fourth edition from July 15 to August 16. The camp targets school students from the UAE aged 6 and 17 years.

The TRA has adopted a number of technical and information training programs focusing on three main focus areas: robotics, artificial intelligence, programming and entrepreneurship. The adoption of these focus areas aims to orient the younger generation towards technological horizons to shape the future and enable them to create innovative ideas.

The TRA's innovation camp also aims at investing young Emirati minds by focusing on ICT trends that are in line with the vision of the UAE and developing their technical, life and physical skills to enable a generation capable of advancing development and increasing efficiency and productivity in the UAE.

Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA director general, said: “This camp is part of the efforts to prepare young generations of the nation to deal with innovation as a culture and lifestyle, in line with the directives of our leadership on the need to strengthen national competencies in preparation for the age of artificial intelligence and the imperatives of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).

“In this context, the UAE seeks to be among the most innovative countries in the world in line with UAE Vision 2021 and the National Agenda, and we in the TRA are proud to have adopted many initiatives as part of the government's efforts to support innovation, including this camp that has become an important annual event.”

Moaza Al Shukairi, project manager, said: “At its previous sessions, the camp has achieved great success, prompting us to continue searching for various ideas for the new session, while taking into account the geographical distribution and the places where the camp should be located so as to include all areas of the UAE.

“Programs have been developed and major courses have been set for participants to choose from, such as robotics, artificial intelligence, advanced gaming software and young entrepreneurs. All this will be divided into daily groups and training programs that vary by age group.” – TradeArabia News Service
