Leading UAE developer Arada has awarded two major contracts worth AED454 million ($124 million) to Dubai-based Airolink Building Contracting for the construction of nine premium apartment blocks in Aljada - the 24-million-sq-ft mixed-use mega-project located in the Muwaileh area of New Sharjah.  

 

Consisting of 740 homes in total, the buildings include the five Sokoon blocks, two new apartment blocks located close to Aljada’s museum and the two Gate buildings, which are based in different parts of the Aljada master plan, where almost 7,000 units are currently under construction.

 

The first contract worth AED377 million is for the construction of five Sokoon apartment buildings and two apartment blocks located next to the museum.

 

Arada said work will soon start on the Sokoon buildings - which consist of 482 homes, and the museum-facing buildings, which are yet to be launched for sale featuring 138 homes - and is due for completion in mid-2024. Both sets of buildings are based in Naseej District, Aljada’s cultural neighbourhood.

 

The other contract, valued at AED77 million, was awarded to the Dubai contractor for the development of The Gate, which consists of two apartment buildings located at the entrance of Aljada, said the Sharjah developer. 

 

Construction work on the 120 homes in The Gate will also begin immediately and will take 16 months to be completed, it added.
