UAE-based Arkan Building Materials Company said one of its units Al Ain Cement Factory has reached an agreement with the National Cement Factory (NCF) thus paving the way for new collaboration opportunities in the UAE cement market.
Following the collaboration with NCF, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ittihad International Investments, the largest cement grinding plant in the UAE, the duo will have a combined capacity of 3.1 million tonnes clinker and 6.6 million tonnes of cement per annum.
The new agreement is a co-operation of the two largest cement and steel slag producers in Abu Dhabi, remarked Arkan COO Engineer Abdulaziz Asad.
"This collaboration agreement we’ve executed with one of the major cement grinding companies in Abu Dhabi is in line with Arkan’s vision to be the Partner of Choice," stated Asad.
Besides a long-term clinker offtake agreement mutually beneficial to both parties, this agreement will enable both companies to cut their production and logistics costs, resulting in improved market share and delivery time.
“With this collaboration agreement in place, NCF will have less risk in securing its long-term clinker needs,” remarked Engineer Mohamad Yassin, the general manager. “We look forward to the opportunity to work with Arkan for many years ahead,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
