Investcorp launches new capital partners business

Bahrain-based Investcorp, a global manager of alternative investments, has launched its Strategic Capital Partners strategy, which will focus on minority equity investments in mid-sized alternative asset managers.

To guide the Strategic Capital Partners business, Investcorp has hired Anthony Maniscalco who has over25 years of experience and was formerly managing director and co-head of Credit Suisse’s Anteil Capital Partners business.

Prior to Credit Suisse, Maniscalco was on the leadership team of Blackstone Strategic Capital Holdings, a vehicle focused on acquiring minority interests in alternative asset managers. Maniscalco joins Investcorp as the managing partner and head of Strategic Capital Partners within the Firm’s Absolute Return Investments group.

“We are looking forward to expanding our range of capabilities by introducing this new strategy that will target investments in mid-sized managers across different alternative asset classes,” said Rishi Kapoor, co-chief executive officer of Investcorp. “Anthony’s deep experience in the alternative investment management space will be a great addition to our team as we continue to grow our alternatives strategy across the globe.”

“I am excited to join Investcorp to lead this new strategic initiative, leveraging my prior experience with alternatives managers as both a principle investor and advisor,” said Maniscalco.

“Investcorp has shown unwavering commitment to alternative investing for over 35 years, which aligns with our approach as active partners with alternative asset managers.”

Maniscalco is joined in launching this new business by David Lee, as a Partner, and Dhanraj Chandiramani, as a vice president, two of his former colleagues at Credit Suisse.

Investcorp’s Strategic Capital Partners business will acquire minority equity stakes in the GPs of established alternative asset managers, including private equity, private debt, real estate, venture capital and hedge fund managers.  – TradeArabia News Service
