Allianz unit makes two key appointments in Dubai

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE (AGCS), Allianz Group’s specialist carrier for corporate insurance business, has bolstered its team in Dubai with the appointments of two engineering underwriters, Faiz Abdulla and Nurhan Kursun.

Abdulla and Kursun will both be based in the Dubai branch of AGCS’ wholly-owned subsidiary, Allianz Risk Transfer (ART) AG, which covers the Middle East region, providing facultative reinsurance for corporate, industrial and specialty risks.

Abdulla joins AGCS from Orient Insurance. Prior to this he spent three years in AXA Corporate Solutions as a Senior Construction Underwriting Manager, based in Dubai. Before this, Abdulla was a Supervisor for Underwriting (Engineering and Energy - Construction Department) at the Abu Dhabi Headquarters of Abu Dhabi National Insurance Company (ADNIC).

Kursun joins from VHV Reasürans in Istanbul, Turkey where she was an Engineering Underwriter. Kursun started her career in Engineering and Technical Manufacturing having gained a degree in Civil Engineering from Istanbul Technical University.

Both Abdulla and Kursun will report to AGCS Head of Engineering for the Middle East including Turkey, North Africa and Pakistan, Beverley Church.

“We’re targeting further growth for the Engineering business in the region,” said Church. “We already reinsure a wide range of complex engineering risks, supporting clients across sectors including construction, renewable energy, power and utilities and oil and gas. Faiz and Nurhan will play a key role in strengthening our relationships across the region and leading us through our next phase of our evolution.”

“Faiz and Nurhan are excellent additions to our Engineering Team,” added Church. “Each brings an invaluable range of skills and experience and both will spearhead the pursuit of new opportunities to work more closely with existing clients and generate new leads across multiple industries within the region.” – TradeArabia News Service
