Thailand Tourism celebrates restart of travel with exclusive event

DUBAI, December 27, 2020

The Tourism Authority of Thailand celebrated the reopening of its borders for travellers from the Middle East with an intimate dinner event, ’Get Ready For Amazing Thailand 2021’, at Benjarong Restaurant, Dusit Thani Hotel.

The event showcased a live cooking demonstration of Thai Massaman Curry which is recognised as the number one dish by CNN Travel’s ‘The World’s 50 Best Foods’, followed by a Muay Thai ritual performance, ‘Wai Khru Ram Muay’.

“We are excited to announce the reopening of our borders after taking all the necessary precautions. The support of public and private sector partners has enabled us to elevate the travel and tourism industry standards with the introduction of the ‘Amazing Thailand Safety and Health Administration’ (SHA) certificate, developing confidence among international and domestic travellers,” said Pichaya Saisaengchan, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand for Dubai and the Middle East.

“We look forward to starting 2021 on a positive note as we convey to travellers from the region to ‘Get Ready for Amazing Thailand 2021’. We want to encourage Arab Millennials and travellers from the Middle East, to experience sustainable tourism while engaging with local communities by discovering off-the-beaten path regions such as Kanchanaburi, Trat and Phang-Nga.

During the gathering, the Tourism Authority of Thailand tested the attendees’ knowledge of Thailand through entertaining quizzes and offered exclusive giveaways, including complimentary stays from various hotel sponsors in Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Phuket, Krabi and Samui. Participating hotels include: Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas, Banyan Tree Bangkok, Banyan Tree Phuket, COMO Point Yamu, Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin, Dusit Thani Hua Hin, Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket, Dusit Suites Hotel Ratchadamri Bangkok, MASON, Rayavadee Krabi, SALA Phuket Mai Khao Beach Resort, SAMUJANA Samui, Siam Kempinski Hotel, The KEE Resort & Spa Patong Beach, The Peninsula Bangkok and Waldorf Astoria Bangkok.

Thailand announced the reopening of its borders to travellers from the Middle East in November with the introduction of the ‘TR’ tourist visa which enables tourists to visit Thailand for up to 60 days. Recently, five GCC Nationals (UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar) can enter Thailand without visa and stay up to 30 days including a 14-day quarantine upon arrival. The updated tourist visa aims to revive Thailand’s international tourism following the success of its domestic travel campaign.

Travellers looking to visit Thailand from the Middle East can reach out to the Thai Embassy or Consulate in their home country with the required documents. Once approved, travellers can then apply for a Certificate of Entry (CoE) on the official Thai Government website. - TradeArabia News Service
