Accor to open Rixos resort in Jewel of the Creek
DUBAI, October 1, 2020
Accor, a world-leading augmented hospitality group is anchoring the upcoming Jewel of the Creek masterplan in Dubai, UAE, with a fully integrated urban Rixos resort focused on leisure, entertainment, sports and food and beverage.
Earlier this year, Accor announced its strategic partnership with Dubai Developments to manage two properties, namely the Mövenpick Grand Al Bustan and Swissôtel and Swissôtel Living Al Murooj. The upcoming Jewel of the Creek will illustrate the third property signed in less than a year.
The new Rixos property will be located in the Jewel of the Creek, a 1-million-sq-m, mixed-use development in the Port Saeed area of Deira, in close proximity to Dubai International Airport. The project is expected to transform the location into a destination with a vibrant urban center featuring residential, commercial, hospitality, sports, entertainment recreational and marina components, which are connected to the main city area with over 7 tunnels and almost7,000 parking spaces available.
In addition, it will offer a vast range of unique outdoor features including lavish pools, extensive landscaping and water features, with a water front promenade offering numerous retail and food and beverage outlets and an 80-berth marina.
“The recent development witnessed in the nearby Bur Dubai and Deira districts, with major facelifts and redevelopments initiatives, are expected to further elevate the surroundings and will be incredibly beneficial to existing hotels in the respective areas,” said Mark Willis, CEO of Accor Middle East & Africa. “We are the largest hotel operator in Dubai and our partnership with Dubai Developments highlights our common goal to strategically develop tourism and meet the demand of today’s travellers in Dubai”.
The project’s strategic location combined with the ease of accessibility to some of Dubai’s primary, modern attractions including Downtown Dubai, Dubai Mall, and more, provide an ideal destination for leisure guests.
“We see this project as the “Jewel” of the Jewel of the Creek development,” said Essa Al Maidoor, General Director Dubai Developments. “Once our elaborated and strategic improvement plan is complete, the project will offer all elements to bring a true Rixos product to the Dubai Creek area, which will appeal to a larger target audience and vastly distinguish itself from the competition”.
Further to the guests room, Rixos will showcase a variety of food and beverage outlets, a large conference centre (3,000 sq m), a commercial zone, indoor and outdoor sports facilities and fitness centre, a wellness centre, an infinity pool, an entertainment and show arena, a beach promenade, kids and teens facilities. Once completed, the project will offer 770 hotel rooms and suites.
“We are very pleased to introduce this new property into Dubai, as we increase the presence of the Rixos brand in the UAE,” added Mark Willis “This revolutionary project is expected to transform the Port Saeed area of Deira into a destination with a vibrant urban centre featuring residential, commercial, hospitality, sports and recreational components.”
The properties’ proximity to Dubai International Airport and some of Bur Dubai’s major commercial areas such as Port Rashid, Souq Kabeer and the Embassy District will also facilitate traction from corporate and government segments.
The group is currently operating 4 Rixos properties in the UAE, including Rixos Premium Dubai JBR, Rixos Dubai the Palm Hotel & Suites, Rixos Saadiyat Island Abu Dhabi and Rixos Bab Al Bahr in Ras Al Khaima.
Rixos Jewel of the Creek will expand Accor’s footprint in the UAE to 65 properties strong (17,979 keys) with 29 more projects (7,900 keys) pipelined across its diversified portfolio of brands. – TradeArabia News Service
