MANAMA, January 25, 2020

Bahraini flag carrier Gulf Air said it had flown in the very first tourists to the Maldives this year in its flight GF144 that arrived at Male International Airport on January 1 at 6.10 am (local time).

Bahraini national Mohamed Al Amer, who flew along with his wife on Gulf Air’s flight GF144, received a grand welcome at Male Airport where they were received by the Minister of Tourism of the Maldives and the Managing Director at Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation.

The lucky couple, who were the first to enter the Maldives this year, received special gifts from the Ministry of Tourism and a complimentary holiday voucher from a luxury resort as well as 2 complimentary return air tickets from Gulf Air.

Upon winning the prize, Al Amer said: "This was a lovely surprise! I never imagined I would be the very first tourist to enter the Maldives in 2020."

"While flying with my wife on Gulf Air, I was only looking forward to having a relaxing holiday in Maldives enjoying the beautiful islands, but this grand welcome and the special gifts have made our visit memorable," stated an excited Al Amer.

“It was a pleasant flight onboard the national carrier’s new aircraft. We can’t wait to travel on Gulf Air again on another adventure and explore one of its new destinations in 2020,” he added.
