Turkish Airlines’ load factor crosses 82pc in November

ISTANBUL, December 11, 2019

November turned out to be a good month for Turkish Airlines, which posted a load factor of 82.3 per cent for the month.

According to the carrier's passenger and cargo traffic results for November 2019, the total number of passengers carried during the month reached 5.7 million, up 3.7 per cent compared to the same period last year, while domestic load factor increased from 84 per cent to over 85 per cent and international load factor increased from 81 per cent to around 82 per cent compared to the same month in 2018.

International-to-international transfer passengers (transit passengers) increased by 6.3 per cent and international passengers excluding international to international transit passengers increased by 11.5 per cent compared to the same period of last year. The total number of international passengers increased by 8.5 per cent in November compared to same month of last year.

Additionally, the national flag carrier realised realised increases in the number of passengers in Far East, Europe, Africa and North America, going up by 11.5 per cent, 8.9 per cent, 8.2 per cent and 6.8 per cent, respectively.

In November, cargo/mail volume increased by 9.5 per cent compared to the same period of 2018. Main contributors to this growth in cargo/mail volume are Far East with 14,8 per cent, Europe with 10.1 per cent and North America with 4.7 per cent increase.

Between January and November, passenger numbers totalled 68.8 million, with total load factor reaching 81.7 per cent during the 11-month period.  International load factor for January to November was 81 per cent while domestic load factor hit 86.3 per cent.

International-to-international transfer passengers carried increased by 4.6 per cent and international passengers excluding international to international transit passengers increased by 2.2 per cent reaching 18 million passengers.

Cargo/mail carried during the 11-month period increased by 9.5 per cent to reach 1.4 million tons. - TradeArabia News Service
