Millennium Hotels files lawsuit against Saudi hotel owner

MAKKAH, June 17, 2019

Hospitality chain Millennium Hotels and Resorts is currently pursuing a legal course of action against the owner of Makkah Millennium Hotel and Towers, the group has announced.

According to a statement released by the hotel group, Makkah Construction and Development Co. - owners of the Makkah Millennium Hotel and Towers - had "unlawfully, and in contrary to the terms of the operating and management agreement, interfered with the exclusive rights of Millennium in the management and operation of the hotel and towers".

According to media reports, Makkah Construction had decided to terminate the joint agreement with Millennium Hotels, which became effective on June 13.

"Millennium disagrees with the owner’s acts and has commenced proceedings to remove this interference and confirm Millennium’s exclusive rights to manage and operate the hotel and towers without interference from the owner or others," the statement said.

The group said it is "confident of the Saudi judiciary system in the protection of rights and imposing of justice".

The hotel company also addressed its guests with deep regrets for the inconvenience they might have encountered during their stay at Makkah Millennium Hotel and Towers.

Currently, Millennium Hotels and Resorts operates 4,067 keys in Saudi Arabia. - TradeArabia News Service
