Dubai Culture offers free entry to museums on May 18

DUBAI, May 16, 2019

Celebrating the worldwide observation of the International Museums Day, Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has announced that entry to its museums across Dubai will be free on Saturday, May 18.

Dubai Culture will waive off the ticket fees in order to facilitate easier access to the Etihad Museum, Al Shindagha Museum, and Dubai Museum that narrate the tale of Emirate’s cultural heritage and history  The museums visiting timing during Ramadan are 10:00 am to 5:00 pm every day, except Friday.

The celebration aims to portray museums as the custodians of Dubai’s rich history and as a bridge that connects the past and the present, thereby allowing a healthy exchange of culture and ideas among communities and generations.

International Museums Day is organised by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and has been an annual celebration since 1977. It represents a unique moment for the international museum community. The International Museum Day 2019 will focus on the new roles of museums as active actors in their communities under the theme ‘Museums as Cultural Hubs: The future of tradition’.

Dubai Culture aims to enhance the emirate’s cultural scene and draw attention to the UAE’s rich heritage. The authority’s mandate is to build bridges of constructive dialogue between different civilisations and cultures to enhance Dubai's position as a creative and sustainable global city for culture, heritage, arts, and literature, with the aim to empower these sectors by developing creative and innovative projects and initiatives locally, regionally, and globally. - TradeArabia News Service
