New GM for Shangri-La Al Husn Resort & Spa

MUSCAT, January 7, 2019

Sandro Mazza has been promoted to general manager of Shangri-La Al Husn Resort & Spa in Muscat, Oman.

In his new role, he will be responsible for directing and evaluating the day-to-day activities of Shangri-La Al Husn Resort & Spa’s 180 guest rooms, four dining outlets, state-of-the-art wellness facilities including Hareer Spa By L’Occitane and a purpose built fitness centre.

Mazza’s appointment follows his role as resident manager of adjacent sister property Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa, where he was in place for 18 months following a stint at Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa, Maldives as resident manager. Mazza has risen through the ranks of Shangri-La Group since joining the company in 2006 as assistant front office manager, where he progressed to Valley Wing manager at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore in 2009.

Speaking of his appointment, Mazza said: “I am delighted to join the team at Shangri-La Al Husn Resort & Spa. I look forward to working with the team to continue to drive Shangri-La Al Husn Resort & Spa to the next levels of luxury as general manager.”

He was appointed front office manager at China World Summit Wing, Beijing in 2009 before progressing to become director of rooms at Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong, when he was based in Hong Kong for two years, from 2012 until 2014. From there, he was promoted to resident manager of Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi.

Perched on a cliff overlooking the Gulf of Oman against the dramatic backdrop of rugged mountains, Shangri-La Al Husn sets the standard for luxury in Muscat. In May 2018, Shangri-La Al Husn relaunched as a private standalone resort. The palatial Al Husn – which means castle in Arabic – features 180 rooms and suites and was previously marketed as part of the adjacent Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa, an integrated destination resort comprised of the family and leisure-focused Al Waha and Al Bandar hotels.

Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts currently operates over 100 hotels with a room inventory of over 41,000. - TradeArabia News Service
