Srilankan Airlines wins big at Social Media Summit in Dubai

DUBAI, December 23, 2018

SriLankan Airlines won the award for Middle East’s Social Media Campaign of the year 2018 at the recently concluded Social Media Summit and Awards that took place at the Ritz Carlton DIFC in Dubai.

Globally recognised MNCs, large and medium-sized companies as well as PR and digital agencies from around the Mena region participated in the awards and were judged by an elite panel of top regional experts who consider the excellence and effectiveness of social media work from across the region.

“For SriLankan Airlines’s Campaign to be honoured for Social Media Campaign of the Year 2018 is both an immense honour and testament to the fantastic team work between our social media team at headquarters and our agency BIZ COM,” said the SriLankan Airlines’ country manager for the UAE, Asiri Wickramasuriya. “As an airline, we have had an incredible year, and this recognition is a testament to the close working relationship we have with our agency and we continue to inspire each other.”

“This award recognises key factors that were instrumental in making the SriLankan Airlines’ campaign stand apart from the competition. It recognises the uniquely creative process, the ability to penetrate the GCC market effectively in both Arabic and English, using the right messaging to target various demographic segments of the region through accurate geo-targeting. An in-depth understanding of local, regional and international sensitivities of the local and expatriate population, pragmatic use of social media tools, precise use of peak social media usage hours and excellent response times, that succeeded in evoking the highest levels of engagement with the desired target audience,” said Heba Al Mansoori, founder and CEO of BIZ COM, who leads on the SriLankan Airlines account in the GCC.

Launched in 1979, national carrier SriLankan Airlines is an award-winning airline with a solid reputation for service, comfort, safety, reliability, and punctuality. The airline’s hub is at Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo, providing convenient connections to its global route network of 111 destinations in 48 countries. - TradeArabia News Service
