Dr. Ali Follad, Advisor at the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), was honoured today by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Zayed Al Zayani, for successfully organising the first wedding in the kingdom.

The big Indian wedding, which took place at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay this past weekend, saw 1,000 guests come from India, Belgium, UK, US and several other countries.

Al Zayani thanked Dr. Follad for all his efforts and praised BTEA's efforts in successfully implementing the strategy which aims to further develop the tourism sector in the Kingdom and more importantly position Bahrain as a wedding destination.

"I would like to thank Dr Follad for his efforts and coordinating with the wedding planners and other companies to successfully portray the kingdom's capability in hosting such events," added Al Zayani.

Further commenting, Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa, CEO of BTEA, said: "This is the first wedding hosted in Bahrain as a part of its strategy to be positioned as a wedding hub. A number of companies in Bahrain benefitted from this event which positively impacted the local economy." - TradeArabia News Service
