Boeing takes the lead in Q1 order race with Airbus

WASHINGTON, DC, April 10, 2017

American plane manufacturer Boeing beat Airbus in terms of both deliveries and orders in the first quarter of 2017, said a report.

For the first quarter of 2017, Boeing received 190 orders for commercial jets for the same quarter, with the net order number for the quarter being 162. Airbus had listed 26 commercial aircraft on its order book, however, the net total for the year dropped to six after factoring in cancellations and conversion between different plane model, said a report in Aerotime.

Boeing is also in the lead in aircraft deliveries, having delivered 164 aircraft units to commercial customers in the first quarter of 2017. Its rival Airbus delivered 136 jetliners in the first three months of 2017, including 26 A320neo aircraft which are affected by engine supply issues.

Airbus said that the delays for its best-selling A320 family aircraft stem from problems with engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney. Although it received few orders in the first quarter, as per March 31 Airbus has a backlog of 5,547 A320 family aircraft, the report said.
