Bab Al Qasr Hotel welcomes new GM

ABU DHABI, February 2, 2017

Bab Al Qasr Hotel & Residences, a five star hotel in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi, has appointed York Brandes as its new general manager.
 
Brandes will be responsible for the 677 rooms and residences, with private beach in Abu Dhabi’s exclusive Corniche area.

The German born hotelier started his international career in 1993 in Dubai and is very excited about being back in UAE after many years. Brandes said: “I am thrilled about being back in UAE after this many years and see all the development that has happened. It is very exciting to be part of a new landmark in the capital city of Abu Dhabi and have the chance to embrace the local culture and create history with a new city icon.”

Brandes has a solid background with 34 years in luxury hospitality industry and values the importance of high standards and services. His career background is in food and beverage (F&B) and he has experience and education in both restaurant and kitchen management. His first appointment as general manager was in 2000 with Anassa Resort, a Member of the Leading Hotels of the World, where he stayed for six years. The following 11 years Brandes spent in Oman as general manager of the world known Chedi Muscat hotel, wherein he was also a Board Member of the National Hospitality Institute since 2008. During this time, he managed to develop a new beach restaurant and a new spa for the hotel as well as carry out a major renovation of the property after the cyclone ‘Gonu’. In 2014, GHM promoted him to vice president operations based in Singapore in charge of six hotels.

Brandes said: “I believe with my multinational experience and knowledge, I will be able to together with my team at Bab Al Qasr Hotel & Residences create many memorable moments for our guests.”

Brandes’ contribution over the years has been well appreciated and his ability to implement a variety of strategic plans to improve guest experiences and revenues across all facets of the hotels have been the key to his successes, the hotel said in a statement. - TradeArabia News Service
