The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi welcomes new executive members

ABU DHABI, September 19, 2016

The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal has appointed Khaled Al Jamal and Jérémie Laurent as the general manager and executive assistant manager in charge of food and beverage, respectively.

A veteran general manager, Jamal joins the new property from Al Jaddaf Marriott and Marriott Executive Apartments in Dubai, where he served as the pre-opening general manager since late 2013. Jamal’s tenure with Marriott started in 1987 at Amman Marriott where he spent three years in various food and beverage roles followed by a move to the US with Sheraton and then Holiday Inn. In 1994 he re-joined Marriott as director of restaurants at the Budapest Marriott, ultimately taking on the role of the property’s director of food and beverage. In 2002, he was appointed as cluster director of operations for the Prague Marriott, Renaissance Prague and Marriott Executive Apartments, and then took on leadership of his own hotel in 2003 as the opening general manager at the Courtyard by Marriott, Moscow.

In the following years Jamal served as the general manager at the Beirut Marriott in Lebanon, cluster general manager at the Prague Marriott, Renaissance Prague and Marriott Executive Apartments as well as the opening general manager of The JW Marriott Ankara in Turkey. Under his leadership the latter won three Marriott International awards for guest satisfaction and “ACE of MICE” award for two consecutive years as the leading meeting venue in the city.

Laurent assumed the position of the executive assistant manager in charge of food and beverage at The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi in July 2016 and is overseeing the day-to-day operations of eight restaurants and loungers as well as further developing the property's extensive event facilities and outside catering services.

A French national and an alumnus of Ecôle Hotelière de Lausanne in Switzerland, Laurent began his career in his home country in 1995 before moving to Dubai in 2001 with Jumeirah International. Following several years in senior food and beverage roles in French Polynesia and Switzerland, Laurent returned to Dubai in 2010 as director of food and beverage at The Address Montgomerie Golf Resort and Spa. Most recently, he held the position of director of food and beverage at the Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah being in charge of six outlets from the opening phase. - TradeArabia News Service
