More holidaygoers looking to travel on shoestring budget

DUBAI, July 27, 2016

The tourism industry is witnessing a substantial increase in vacationers who like to explore holiday destinations on a shoestring budget, a leading holiday booking website has revealed.

Demarcating the age group of such travellers from 25 – 35 years, Geet Bhalla, Co-Founder and CEO of Dubai-based holiday booking platform HolidayMe.com, said: “We have noticed that new age travellers are not as interested in the tried and tested sun, sea and sand holidays like their previous generations. Nowadays people study their destinations, invite online advice from fellow travellers and know exactly what they want with a difference. They are spending less time in ‘major gateway cities’ and are instead exploring more remote destinations, staying in hostels/boutique instead of luxury hotels, and choosing cheaper modes of transport to travel. HolidayMe.com provides a large number of packages to worldwide destinations especially catering to this travel segment.”

Experiencing the noticeable rise in budget travellers, HolidayMe.com has revealed an enticing list of holiday destinations that can be explored from as low as Dh2,500 ($680.5) and has some of the most popular tourist hotspots across continents. HolidayMe.com strongly believes that proper research followed by experienced guidance will allow many to explore the world on a shoestring budget.

Digvijay Pratap, co-founder and managing director of HolidayMe.com said; “It is a misconception to believe that holidaying needs huge budgets. A lot can be planned within individual financial resources. Having planned and sold many vacations across continents, we assure prospective customers that budget constraints need not be the reason anymore for cancelling holidays.”

Recognising budget travelling as the new and preferred way of vacationing for many, HolidayMe.com also shared some vital tips to make the most out of holiday planning.

  • The holiday planner suggests doing a lot of research on the places and its food and accommodation to gauge the travel budget accordingly.
  • After airfare comes lodging which takes the lion’s share of expenditure and needs to be curtailed.  Saving on accommodation will help in budgeting more funds on activities that travellers may want to do like adventure sports, which are expensive.
  • Walking around the town and visiting numerous lodges, hostels, dorms helps in knowing the destination well and finding a cheaper option to stay.  Stays in some places can be as cheaper as $10 - $25 a day and many places offer complimentary breakfast that will suit perfect to your budget travel needs. Couchsurfing is the latest viable option as many locals are ready to lend their place for cheap stays and it’s a trend catching up worldwide.
