Club Plaisir golfers at Abu Dhabi Golf Club

Golf professionals experience Abu Dhabi’s fairways

ABU DHABI, January 20, 2016

More than 120 golf professionals from across northern Europe visited Abu Dhabi to experience the range of first-class courses across the emirate and explore the destination’s wide range of attractions.

Organised by Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) along with Sweden-based golf tour operator Golf Plaisir, the golf pros from Sweden, Germany, Norway and Denmark spent the past weekend enjoying a winter sun break in Abu Dhabi.

During the visit the golfers teed off at Abu Dhabi Golf Club – home to the prestigious annual Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship – Saadiyat Beach Golf Club and Yas Links Golf Club along with visiting a number of cultural attractions including Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and undertaking a desert safari in Al Ain.

TCA Abu Dhabi last year teed up an ambitious golf tourism drive  to strengthen the UAE capital’s standing as a world-class golfing destination by targeting expanding golf markets in Europe, China, India and across the GCC as well as across the UAE.

Led by the Authority’s Industry Development Committee (IDC) and supported by Abu Dhabi’s leading golf courses, tour operators, hoteliers and destination promotion agencies, the various entities are now working together to fulfil the emirate’s expanding golf tourism ambitions.

Targeting a wide range of consumer and travel trade marketing and awareness building activities, a dedicated golf portal on visitabudhabi.ae, the official Abu Dhabi destination promotion website, is focused on the marketing drive for golf enthusiasts and serves as a one-stop-shop to connect them with a range of golf holiday options and direct booking tools connected directly to the emirate’s golf industry professionals.

The IDC is also focused on facilitating extensive networking opportunities for the leading golf courses and tour operators, driving engagement across the board.

Mubarak Al Nuami, director promotions and overseas offices, said: “We have made significant progress in recent years in increasing the numbers of inbound visitors to come and play golf here, and expect the collaborative approach we are adopting through the work of the IDC Golf Clubs to further boost the number of international visitors choosing Abu Dhabi for a golfing holiday. Hosting more than 100 golfing professionals and letting them experience our world-class facilities is an excellent way of spreading the word that we are a venue offering superb facilities and superb locations to enjoy a round of golf in the sun.” – TradeArabia News Service
