Turkish Airlines starts SAW-Dubai flights

ISTANBUL, December 26, 2015

Turkish Airlines has announced the launch of its maiden flight from the second airport in Istanbul, Sabiha Gokcen International Airport (SAW) to Dubai.

The inclusion of seven additional flights per week from and to Sabiha Gokcen which is on the Asian side of Istanbul, will increase the national carrier's capacity on routes to Dubai by nearly 50 per cent, said a statement from Turkish Airlines.

The daily flight TK 758 will take off from the Turkish SAW airport at 9.25pm and land in Dubai International (Terminal 1) at 3.50am. On return, TK 759 will leave Dubai International at 5.20am and arrive in Istanbul's second airport at 8.35am.

A special ceremony was held at Dubai International Airport to celebrate the debut flight launch in the presence of Erdem Ozan, Turkish Consul General in Dubai.

It was attended by Emre Ismailoglu, the general manager, Dubai and Northern Emirates, Turkish Airlines, and Jamal Zaal, the VP (Terminal and Cargo Operations) DXB, Operation Unit at Dubai Airports.

Turkish Airlines currently flies 14 weekly flights to Dubai from its hub at Istanbul Ataturk Airport.

Starting from March 2016, the airline will boost its weekly flights to 10 per week between Dubai and Sabiha Gokcen, further increasing frequencies and capacity on this route, said the statement from the national carrier.

The additional flights will enable even greater opportunities for travellers for onward connections to Europe, the Middle East, and other parts of Asia.

Travelling to Sabiha Gokcen will also enable passengers to access popular Turkish destinations like Bursa, Bodrum, Ankara, Samsun, Antalya, amongst others, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
