Rotana on track to expand Middle Eastern portfolio

Rotana to develop 1,500 rooms in Oman

MUSCAT, November 12, 2015

UAE-based hospitality group Rotana has entered into a strategic agreement with Golden Group of Companies and Taameer Investment, leading national companies in investment in Oman, to build five new hotels in the sultanate over the next five years.

The signing ceremony was held in Jibreen hall at Muscat Intercontinental Hotel under the patronage of Ahmed bin Nasser Al Mahrazi, minister of tourism.

The new hotels will bring approximately 1,500 hotel rooms in various categories of five-, four- and three-star to the cities of Muscat, Sohar and Salalah. This will strongly push the pace of tourism development in the sultanate, support and promote the tourism sector, inbound and internal tourism and business services.

Sheikh Salim bin Ahmad Al Ghazali, GGC & Taameer chairman, said: “We are happy with this strategic alliance and signing the agreement with Rotana Hotel Management Company, which reflects a roadmap for our hotel investments in hospitality, tourism and travel industries in the coming stage”.

“We are proud to have been chosen to manage these five properties in Oman and I wish to thank Golden Group and Taameer Investment for their trust and confidence,” said Nasser Al Nowais, chairman of Rotana. Oman is one of the most diverse and scenic countries in the Arabian Peninsula, blessed with abundant natural beauty and breath-taking landscapes that makes it a top attraction for tourists. Rotana sees Oman as an important growth market, and with our decades of experience and global expertise in hotel management, we are confident we can add value to the hospitality industry in the region and bring a new level of sophistication to the guest experience,” he said. – TradeArabia News Service
