MEA hotels report 12pc occupancy rise in July

Hotels in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region have reported a 12.1 per cent increase in occupancy to 55.1 per cent in July as compared to the same period last year, according to a report.
 
The July 2015 data compiled by STR Global also reported a 5.3 per cent rise in average daily rate to $159.1 and an 18.1 per cent increase in revenue per available room (RevPar) to $87.69.
 
Saudi Arabia reported a 0.7 per cent increase in occupancy to 59.1 per cent, a 1.2 per cent rise in ADR to SR1,260.93 ($335.9) and a 1.9 per cent increase in RevPar to SR745.84, it said.
 
The contributing factor was the performance in Makkah. During the final 10 days of Ramadan, the occupancy in the city rose to 82.8 per cent and the ADR increased to SR3,061.88.
 
Meanwhile, the UAE posted double-digit increases in occupancy (+24.1 per cent to 57.6 per cent) and RevPar (+23.6 per cent to Dh307.46), while ADR was down 0.4 per cent to Dh533.88 ($145.3), said the report.
 
Bahrain, on the other hand, saw a 5.6 per cent increase in occupancy to 42.3 per cent as well as double-digit growth in ADR (+19.8 per cent to BD82.13/$216.1) and RevPar (+26.5 per cent to BD34.74), it added. - TradeArabia News Service
