Major public park opens in Taif

TAIF, July 30, 2015

Radf public park, a state-of-the-art leisure destination in Taif in the Makkah region of Saudi Arabia was inaugurated yesterday (July 29), with more than 50,000 visiting it on the opening day.

The 13,000-sq-m park, which has an interactive fountain is the biggest of its kind in the kingdom and was inaugurated by Makkah Governor Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, reported Arab News.

The park features a number of tourists, cultural, educational, social and sports facilities in a 565,000-sq-m area.

The event was attended by Prince Turki Al Faisal, chairman of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, Taif Governor Fahd bin Abdulaziz bin Moammar and other dignitaries.

The park demonstrates how to maintain landscaping and design home gardens. It also has a lake which features a number of fountains and water displays. There are also a number of restaurants, hotels, markets, theatre, seating configurations and sports complexes.

Naif Mayor Mohammad bin Abdur Rahman Al Mukhrij said the park has several lawns and playgrounds and a parking area for 1,200 cars, besides 10 complexes for children’s games.

He said that the southern part of the park has dedicated areas for sports activities including football, car races, table tennis halls, bowling, billiards, halls, swimming pools, library and health club. There is also a green area with facilities for pedestrians, featuring aesthetic lighting and fountains.

“The amusement and commercial facilities include markets, hotels, restaurants, outdoor and indoor games, parking, museums, exhibition hall, cinema and family meeting halls. The park has models of various historical places of the kingdom within its gardens,” he added.
