Flynas..prioritising passengers' health

Flynas adopts new measures to tackle spread of diseases

RIYADH, June 10, 2015

Flynas, a leading low-cost airline of Saudi Arabia, has set new standards in-flight safety by adding Virus Guard disinfectant wet wipes and sprays to its in-flight hygiene in a move to protect passengers from viruses such as MERS, Birdflu.

Eman Yusuf, in-flight services and on-board product manager, said: "Flynas is determined to help protect everyone on board. Flynas will use the special wet wipes and sprays to disinfect all surface areas on board the aircraft. We make passenger safety a top priority and using Virus Guard will reassure them we are doing all we can to combat cross contamination."

It has long been recognised that air travel facilitates the spread of dangerous pathogens, and recent outbreaks of viruses such as MERS and Ebola have heightened concerns that the cleaning procedures used by many airlines simply aren't good enough.

Company spokesperson for Virus Guard, Alex Sahni, said the move was great news for passengers and crew who are worried about being affected by one of these viruses on international flights. "This is a bold and welcome step by Flynas to start disinfecting their aircraft using Virus Guard. Typically, aircraft surfaces used or touched by passengers are rarely or never disinfected, but because our product is simple to use and extremely effective for up to 10 days, we're confident it can help to eliminate the risk of cross contamination. We hope that other airlines will follow Flynas's example and offer passengers added protection from viruses like MERS, Bird Flu."

Virus Guard wipes come in convenient packs of 20 and 50 wipes and are similar in application to wet wipes. When used, the wipe leaves a microscopic layer on surfaces that actively protects against a wide range of viruses and kills both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, as well as vegetative cells and fungus. – TradeArabia News Service
