Uber set for official launch in Bahrain

MANAMA, May 13, 2015

Uber, the international mobile app-based transportation network, is set to launch officially in Bahrain, next month.

“We are all set for an official launch in the first week of June,” said Danya Bashir Hobba, marketing manager, Uber Manama. The launch is likely to be a high profile marketing event.

Soft launched in December 2014, Uber Manama is still in its testing phase with limited availability. During this phase, it is primarily serving Manama, Muharraq, Seef, Saar and few other areas. Once launched officially, it will serve the high traffic route of Bahrain-Saudi Arabia as well, Hobba said.

Uber is the official transportation partner for the ongoing gulfBID, gulfInteriors and Gulf Property Show at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre.

As part of this partnership, Uber Bahrain is offering two free rides to both the exhibitors and visitors attending the exhibitions through the user code HCEUber.

Founded in 2007, Uber seamlessly connects riders to drivers through the app, makes cities more accessible, opening up more possibilities for riders and more business for partner drivers and transport operators.

Uber's rapidly expanding global presence continues to bring people and their cities closer and is currently providing service in 304 cities across 56 different countries. - TradeArabia News Service
