Marriott Hotels... shaping the future of travel

Marriott to showcase 4D virtual reality travel tech at ATM

DUBAI, April 22, 2015

Marriott Hotels is taking an unprecedented leap into the future of travel with Oculus Rift virtual reality technology, displaying the brand’s Teleporter this May at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai, UAE, as part of Marriott Hotels’ Travel Brilliantly campaign.

Pre-selected visitors of the Marriott International booth at ATM will have the opportunity to #GetTeleported instantly to see, hear and feel what it is like to be on a beach in Hawaii and high above the city of London.

During the Marriott Virtual Travel Experience, guests enter the Teleporter, where they will put on virtual reality headsets and headphones to be completely immersed in a virtual world. From there, they will visit a virtual version of a new Marriott Greatroom lobby, and then virtually travel to a black sand beach in Maui, Hawaii and to the top of a skyscraper in downtown London. While “traveling,” people will experience 4-D elements – the feeling of the warm sun on their skin, breeze in their hair, rumble of waves under foot and ocean spray in their face – to make the experience feel extremely lifelike.

Introduced globally late last year, the unique 4-D immersive and sensory travel experience is a result of a partnership between Marriott Hotels and Academy Award-winning content and experience studio, Framestore. The initiative and wider campaign reinforces the brand’s commitment to shape the future of travel through engaging and co-creating with the millennial travellers.

“Marriott Hotels’ Travel Brilliantly campaign is an empowering and creative platform that has captured the imagination of the next generation of travellers,” said Neal Jones, chief sales and Marketing Officer, Middle East & Africa at Marriott International. “Through a series of dynamic and innovative initiatives, such as the virtual reality travel experience Teleporter, the brand is embracing technologies that will shape the future of travel and encourage travellers to explore and discover the world.”

“As the first hospitality brand to embrace virtual reality, Marriott Hotels is providing travel enthusiasts in the Middle East with an opportunity to sample destinations and make informed decisions. It will particularly appeal to millennials, who are increasingly relying on smart devices and new technology while travelling,” Jones said.

To experience first-hand the innovative initiatives under the Travel Brilliantly campaign including the Teleporter journey, visit the Marriott International stand from May 4 to 7 at ATM. – TradeArabia News Service
