DHA receives health tourism award

DUBAI, March 17, 2015

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) recently received a Health Tourism Innovation award at the International Health Tourism Convention held in Greece.

The award, which was presented to Dr Layla Al Marzouqi, director of health regulation department, was bestowed for introducing destination-level innovations in medical tourism that can serve as a benchmark for other health tourism destinations to adopt and implement.

Al Marzouqi, said: “We would like to thank our leaders for their continuous support which has helped us make significant achievements in the field of medical tourism since the project was first initiated in April 2012. Since then, we are working towards fulfilling Dubai’s vision of being the top medical tourism destination in the region, among the top 10 medical tourism destinations in the world and the fastest growing medical tourism destination globally. We would also like to thank all our stakeholders including the private sector that has been working with us in our race for excellence in the field of medical tourism.”

The innovations that DHA was recognised for included the medical tourism club which has members from private healthcare facilities who work together to discuss ways to enhance the medical tourism in the emirate; the medical tourism office, medical tourism visa and the medical tourism insurance scheme. – TradeArabia News Service
