InterCon Regency Bahrain honoured for support of Diabetes camp

MANAMA, March 16, 2015

InterContinental Regency Bahrain, a leading five-star hotel in the kingdom, received an appreciation award from the Bahrain Diabetes Society (BDS) in recognition of its support of the annual Al Shurooq Children’s Camp for Diabetes for four consecutive years.

The 16th edition of the camp was held under the patronage of Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, chairman of Bahrain Diabetes Society, from the March 12 to the 14 at the Bahrain Football Federation premises in Isa Town.

Mohammed Sanad, hotel manager of InterContinental Regency Bahrain, said: “We are honoured to receive this appreciation award for our continuous support of Al Shurooq Children’s Camp for Diabetes. We take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to all members of the Bahrain Diabetes Society for the noble and humane role they play in supporting those with diabetes and spreading awareness in the whole of the Bahraini Society about the risks of this type of illness and its preventative measures”.

“Our support to Al Shurooq Camp for the fourth year in a row emanates from our eagerness to always participate in such vital activities and events that seek to create healthier communities, as studies indicate a rise in Type 1 Diabetes in Bahrain as well as in other countries. We at InterContinental Regency Bahrain are great advocates of encouraging events pertaining to spreading health awareness and education as we are part of this society. We look forward to supporting many more similar endeavours both on the National and International fronts,” he said.

InterContinental Regency Bahrain’s support of Al Shurooq Camp comes in line with the hotel’s corporate responsibility programme which aims at delivering a positive impact by contributing in spreading awareness and knowledge in the Bahraini Society. In this regard, the hotel provided the three-day camp participants with well balanced meals suited to their health and helped them control sugar levels for the duration of the camp.

This year, approximately 100 children and youth aged between 9 to 18 years with Type 1 Diabetes from Bahrain and other GCC countries participated in the event. – TradeArabia News Service
