Key conference on tourism held in Bahrain

MANAMA, February 26, 2015

Bahrain’s tourism sector organised a forum, ‘Sustainability of Quality and Services in the Tourism Sector,’ to mark Arab Tourism Day.

The discussion focused on the elements of tourism in Bahrain and the vision of the government in developing facilities for recreation and family as well as business and conferences, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

Industry and Commerce Minister Zayed Al Zayani stressed on the importance of quality of services in this vital economic sector and to focus on family tourism and create multiple tourist destinations for citizens and visitors.

He also confirmed the importance of media in advertising to promote Bahrain and highlight its heritage and long history and its hospitable people known for their generosity as the foundation of tourism in the kingdom.

He confirmed government's interests on cruise ships that arrive in Bahrain to provide the highest quality of services that highlight the kingdom's attractions and reflect the civilised image of the country.

At the end of the forum, the minister announced a tourism award in Bahrain, which will cover all the tourist services.

It will be a great opportunity for investors in this sector to compete in providing the best service.

Bahrain, in collaboration with Food and Travel Magazine, will host an event to announce this award and will be published for the first time in the Middle East region before the end of this year.

Other who took part in the forum included luxury travel firm Fox PR owner Lysbeth Fox.

With over 20 years of experience in the luxury, lifestyle and travel sectors, she has created high quality and innovative media campaigns for some of the best known luxury travel companies world-wide. She was also responsible for the repositioning of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company.

Also taking part was Mark Jankel, one of the UK's leading chefs. He is executive chef at the Notting Hill Brasserie, founder of the renowned Street Kitchen with his partner Jun Tanaka.
