RAK tourism revenue tops $272.2m

RAS AL KHAIMAH, February 15, 2015

UAE emirate Ras Al Khaimah revealed its tourism revenue for 2014 exceeded Dh1 billion ($272.2 million), a first in the emirate’s history, a report said.

Additionally, the emirate recorded 2.14 million guest nights, up 72 per cent from its 2013 performance, said a report in WAM.

Moreover, the opening of the Rixos Bab Al Bahr Resort, Marjan Island Resort and Spa, and the Double Tree by Hilton Resort and Spa added to the emirate’s portfolio of destination offerings.

Other factors contributing to the success of RAK’s tourism industry include the cumulative reach of media coverage featuring Ras Al Khaimah, which exceeded 1.3 billion views; a growing volume of direct contacts with travel trade representatives to over 7,500; and visitors to the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism website increasing by 117 per cent compared to 2013, the report said.

The majority of the visitors to Ras Al Khaimah in 2014 included tourists from Germany, UK, Sweden, Russia, Italy, Switzerland and India.
