Lufthansa Technik to set up operational facility in Dubai

DUBAI, February 5, 2015

Lufthansa Technik Middle East, a leading manufacturer and independent provider of technical services for the aviation industry, plans to build a new operational facility at Dubai World Central (DWC) by the fourth quarter of 2015.

The letter of intent for the facility was signed between the two parties at the second and concluding day of MRO Middle East 2015 in Dubai on Tuesday (February 3), said a statement from DWC.

Under the agreement, Lufthansa Technik becomes the anchor tenant of the ‘Aerospace Supply Chain Facilities’ that DWC is shaping within its Aviation District, it added.

The intended Lufthansa Technik facility will articulate the organization’s strategy to expand its operational footprint across the Middle East.

Commenting on Lufthansa Technik’s move, Tahnoon Saif, the vice president of the Aviation District, said: "DWC is pleased to engage with a global player like Lufthansa Technik. This falls aptly in line with our strategic vision to build a comprehensive ecosystem dedicated to the aviation industry."

Unveiling the new project, Ziad Al Hazmi, the CEO of Lufthansa Technik Middle East Services, said: "We have assessed DWC to be the ideal venue to host our new facility that is being designed to strengthen and grow our local presence and capabilities in the region."

"It will put us in prime position as a leader in the aerospace supply chain sphere, and help us enhance value for our growing list of customers through offering optimized technical services, such as our ARC portfolio which includes aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services – literally from nose to tail," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
