Al Binfalah .... an exciting phase for Bahrain International Airport.

Bahrain to close airport car park for project work

MANAMA, November 8, 2014

Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) has announced plans to close down the car park 'C' at the kingdom's airport in preparation of its Airport Modernisation Programme (AMP) which is due to start next month.

The car park “C” entrances at the Bahrain International Airport will be shut down from November 15 at midnight, said a statement from the BAC.

The company is working closely with its facility management arm BAC Facility Management (BAC FM) which recently started managing the airport’s car parks.

As part of the programme, BAC will be increasing the provision of shuttle buses between the airport car parks and the airport terminal building as well as the frequency of pick-ups and drop-offs for the shuttle buses to maintain speed of service.

"This is an exciting phase for the Bahrain International Airport  community and the country as we move ahead with our plans to modernize Bahrain’s gateway; closure of the car park signifies a step closer to construction works starting on the AMP," remarked BAC chief executive Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah said.

"In the coming few months, working hand in hand with the Ministry of Transportation, we will be making significant announcements related to this ambitious project which will undoubtedly solidify BIA’s position as a significant regional hub," he added.

Commenting on the move, Udo Soicke, the chief executive of BAC Facility Management, said: "In our capacity as managers of the airport’s parking facilities, it is our duty to provide passengers and visitors with adequate parking spaces and a convenient, hassle-free access to BIA reflecting the airport’s efficiency."

The company has set a December 15 deadline for the exit of all passenger cars from car park “C.”

To compensate for the closure of car park, we will ensure long-term car parks “B”, “D” and “E” are ready to provide an alternative long term parking solution, stated Soicke.

BAC is the authority responsible for enhancing the airport and increasing its contribution to the local economy in line with Bahrain’s Economic Vision.

In its operational role, BAC is responsible for elevating the airport’s operations, infrastructure and services, said Al Binfalah.

"This is set to improve the airport’s capabilities and cater to the growing number of passengers as well as the changing demands of stakeholders," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
