Grand Hyatt Dubai names new GM

DUBAI, October 27, 2014

Grand Hyatt Dubai has appointed David Mansfield as its new general manager and area director for Hyatt Hotels in Dubai.

He will be taking over the position of John W. Beveridge, who is moving on after six years to take up his new position as the pre-opening general manager of Park Hyatt Mallorca, a 142-room luxury resort located on an island in the Mediterranean Sea off the eastern coast of Spain.

Mansfield joins Grand Hyatt Dubai from his most recent post as the general manager of Grand Hyatt Mumbai and area director for Mumbai, Pune and Goa (India), said a statement from the hotel company.

An appointment he was holding since 2011, he oversaw the strategic and financial performance of Grand Hyatt Mumbai, leading a team of 1,400 employees.

In his additional capacity as area director, Mansfield provided support and strategic oversight to Park Hyatt, Hyatt Regency and Hyatt brands in West India, it stated.

A hospitality school graduate with a Masters of Business Administration, Mansfield has been associated with multiple Hyatt properties around the world having held general manager positions at Hyatt Regency Kuantan Resort (Malaysia) and Grand Hyatt Melbourne (Australia), before moving to India.

An avid reader with a penchant for languages and photography, David Mansfield loves to indulge in sports such as golf, swimming and surfing in his leisure time, said the statement.  

On his new role, Mansfield said: "It is indeed a privilege to be joining the team at Grand Hyatt Dubai and work with my Hyatt colleagues from around the world. It is an exciting time of transformation for Hyatt's expansion in Dubai and in particular I look forward to the exciting challenges ahead in such a dynamic market."

In his area role, Mansfield will be managing the Dubai portfolio of Hyatt Hotels including Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, Park Hyatt, Hyatt Place and the upcoming Hyatt Regency Dubai Creek Heights scheduled to open in early 2015.-TradeArabia News Service
