DHA set to launch Dubai medical tourism packages

DUBAI, October 16, 2014

Dubai will launch various medical tourism packages during the first Health Regulations Conference that will take place in the UAE emirate next week.

The move follows recent discussions by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).

The conference will take place on October 22 and 23, at the Conrad Hotel, Dubai.

The forum will provide a platform to discuss best practices in health regulation and medical tourism in the region and around the globe.

Dr Layla Al Marzouqi, acting-director of DHA Health Regulation Department, said the medical tourism packages will include hotel stay and flight tickets and it will offer discounted rates for certain medical services.

She added that the package will cover seven areas of treatment such as dermatology, dental procedures, preventive health check-ups, plastic surgery, orthopedics and ophthalmology.

Additionally, other packages will be rolled out that will cover other areas including specialist consultations, lab tests and breast cancer screening.

There will also be a weight-loss package that includes consultation with a dietician and diet plans based on the person’s medical history.

“The weight-loss package offers discount ranging from 10 to 40 per cent at prime health facilities in Dubai. The discount will only be applicable during the medical tourism exhibition that will take place during the first Health Regulations Conference,” Dr Marzouqi said.

The packages can be bought by residents also during the two-day exhibition and tour operators will provide these packages for overseas visitors. – TradeArabia News Service
