RAK summit to probe aviation-tourism link

DUBAI, September 7, 2014

An array of high-level speakers will discuss the link between aviation and tourism at the upcoming Arab Aviation and Media Summit (AAMS), the Arab world’s leading aviation and tourism event, in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.

The fourth edition of the event will be held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah, on September 24 at the Hamra Convention Center.

With the theme for this year’s summit focused on "Aviation and Tourism: Common Vision and Purpose", local and regional industry experts and media will discuss the symbiotic relationship between tourism and aviation as well as its impact on the social and economic growth of the Arab world.

Major airlines and tourism organisations including Airbus Group, Air Arabia and Iata will take part in this year’s edition held in partnership with Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAK TDA).

Steven Rice, CEO - RAK Tourism & Development Authority said: “We are delighted to welcome such an esteemed band of distinguished speakers from across the aviation and tourism spectrum to Ras Al Khaimah for the fourth annual Arab Aviation and Media Summit. All are true experts in their chosen fields and will provide a stimulating discussion on the link between aviation and tourism which I’m sure all attendees will find engaging and informative.”

Adel A Ali, group chief executive officer of Air Arabia, said: “In the GCC and wider Arab World, there is strong potential for consistent growth in both the aviation and tourism sectors which will bring employment opportunities and encourage investment into the region. The discussion at the fourth Arab Aviation and Media Summit will provide insight as to how future opportunities in the region can be captured which have the potential to provide widespread benefits across the Arab world.”

Fouad Attar, managing director, Airbus Middle East, said: “The Middle East's passenger traffic is expected to grow by 7.1 per cent annually, and it has become more critical than ever to discuss the most important commercial aviation-related issues and drive a source of innovative solutions.”

“The Arab Aviation & Media Summit is a unique platform where constructive dialogue between various industry peers is built around discussing the future of aviation from both local and global perspectives. We look forward to show-casing Airbus’s latest innovations and initiatives at this year’s summit,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
