Bahrain 'continues to be key tourist destination'

Manama, June 25, 2014

Bahrain continues to be an important tourist destination in the region and with proper strategies it could attract more visitors, said a top hotelier.

Kempinski Grand and Ixir Hotel Bahrain City Centre general manager Puneet Singh was speaking during a final client and partner appreciation farewell event that was held last night at the hotel and attended by hotel officials, travel agents and media, reported the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

"We love Bahrain as it offers a great business environment," said Singh.

"The kind of support and love we have received during our time here is overwhelming."

The official, who has run hotels all over the world spoke about the "phenomenal support" they have received from all bodies, including the government.

"We are sad to leave just like anyone else and hope to return after we find an appropriate location," he added.

Singh had initiated the Destination Bahrain Forum to revitalise the country's tourism sector and will continue to remain an honorary member of the forum.

Kempinski's agreement with the Majid Al Futtaim Group to manage its existing location ends on Monday, and the latter wants to replace the hotel with two separate hotels under a two-brand strategy designed to maximise profit. - TradeArabia News Service
