Jeddah hotels, resorts 'almost fully booked'

Jeddah, June 22, 2014

Jeddah’s hotel rooms, resorts and chalets are almost fully booked, with the onset of the summer holidays bringing an influx of local and Gulf visitors to the city, said a report.

The customers make advance bookings to avoid paying higher prices charged during the holiday season and Ramadan, said the Arab News report.

A good number of them are from Gulf countries including Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar, who perform Umrah and then spend some time at Jeddah’s resorts, it said.

About 95 per cent of villas at a chalet in Obhur in northern Jeddah were booked a week ahead of the school vacations, Hussain Al-Ghamdi, a receptionist at the chalet was quoted as saying.

“A considerable number of customers are from cities outside Jeddah such as Riyadh, Abha, Tabuk, Dammam and Arar,” he said.

While the prices are competitive with the aim to attract as many customers as possible, it would go up in the run-up to the Eid holidays, added the report.
