RAK showcases luxury tourism at WTM

Ras Al Khaimah, November 5, 2013

A delegation from Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (TDA) is taking part in the ongoing World Travel Market (WTM) in London, as part of the emirate’s move to promote itself as a luxury and adventure travel destination.

The delegation, led by Ras Al Khaimah TDA’s director, Khalid Motik, includes eight co-exhibitors: Hilton Worldwide, Banyan Tree Al Wadi and Banyan Tree Ras Al Khaimah Beach, Al Hamra Residence and Village, Bin Majid Group Hotels & Resorts, RAK Airways, Rixos Bab Al Bahr, and The Cove Rotana Resort.

Ras Al Khaimah is fast establishing itself as a global tourism brand and growing visitor numbers year on year and the UK is consistently in the emirate’s top ten source markets.

Despite a hot summer in Europe, Ras Al Khaimah’s luxury hotels and water sports continued to draw British travellers to the emirate, which emirate experienced a 37 per cent increase in visitors from the UK in August 2013 compared to the same month last year.

“The tourism sector in Ras Al Khaimah has seen significant developments over the past twelve months, which we are looking forward to sharing with the international travel community in London,” said Motik.

“At our stand, Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority and our eight co-exhibitors will be showcasing the best of what our rising emirate has to offer: from the UAE’s first Waldorf Astoria, to luxury desert retreats, fantastic beach resorts, and an increasingly connected air network.

“We are particularly excited to be announcing the newly opened Waldorf Astoria, which is a first for the UAE and takes Ras Al Khaimah’s luxury offering to a new level, to this international audience.  We are also anticipating plenty of interest in visuals of the Rixos Bab Al Bahr, which will open in 2014 and will mark the first phased opening of the high profile Al Marjan Islands development,” he added.

The World Travel Market is running from November 4 to 7 at ExCel London – TradeArabia News Service
