Jumeirah names new PR officials

Jumeirah Group, the Dubai-based luxury hospitality company and a member of Dubai Holding, has announced the appointment of senior marketing and public relations executives for its key projects.

Detria Williamson Chapman has been named as the new director of marketing and PR for Burj Al Arab (Dubai), while Christopher Walters will be the new director of PR for Jumeirah Essex House (New York), said a statement from Jumeirah.

Detria has worked in marketing and branding since 1998, starting as a strategic marketing analyst for AT&T Broadband. She then joined the Disney and ESPN Television networks in 2000 as a sales and marketing co-ordinator.

She also worked in several marketing management roles including director of Marketing & Research for Discovery Channel Networks International in 2004, before moving to Abu Dhabi as the director of corporate marketing for Media Zone Authority of Abu Dhabi in 2010.

She is an honours graduate of Pepperdine University, with a Bachelor’s in Marketing and Advertising.

In her new role, Detria will oversee all marketing and public relations activities for Burj Al Arab, the Dubai group said in a statement.

Walters brings more than a decade of hospitality experience to Jumeirah Essex House, which recently celebrated its 80th anniversary as a classic art deco city landmark.

He joins Jumeirah Essex House from Harrison & Shriftman, a PR, special events and marketing firm where he consulted on luxury lifestyle and hospitality brands.

Christopher also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

In his new role, Chris will oversee all traditional and social media relations for the hotel and its modern-American restaurant, South Gate, the statement added.-TradeArabia News Service
