United Airlines to start Bahrain-Washington flights

Daily flight services by United Airlines from Bahrain to Washington DC, US, via Kuwait will start from April 18 next year, it was announced.

The flights will originate from Washington Dulles Airport and arrive in Bahrain after a stop-over in Kuwait, said Civil Aviation Affairs Under-Secretary Captain Abdulrahman Al Gaoud.

'United's current non-stop service from Washington DC to Kuwait will continue onwards to Bahrain, with the return flight also stopping in Kuwait before continuing to Washington DC.'

Flights will be operated by Boeing 777 aircraft, offering United First, Business, Economy Plus and Economy classes.

Capt Al Gaoud said the operation would put Bahrain in a prominent position on the world aviation map and enhance relations between Bahrain and the US.

United's Europe, Africa, the Middle East and India managing director Marcel Fuchs said the flights had been conveniently timed for connections at Washington Dulles, its principal trans-Atlantic gateway, to and from dozens of cities throughout the Americas.
